While there are no renders or leaked images of the Galaxy S23 FE yet, we expect it to look a lot like the Galaxy S23 phones, especially the vanilla model. Of course, there’s always the possibility that the company could do something differently, but we suspect the S23 FE will stray too far from the design principles of the S23 series.
Without any other reliable information, it’s hard to know what the Galaxy S23 FE will look like. One thing we are sure of is that if the phone exists, we will definitely see it leak before its official announcement.

One of the main selling points of the series was its affordability, married to the same processor you get in Samsung’s best flagships. It is possible that Samsung will decide to downgrade the processor on the Galaxy S23 FE to cut costs and finally give customers a device that doesn’t put pressure on their pockets.
We previously mentioned a sketchy report from a Korean publication about the launch of the S23 FE in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, most of the other rumors about the phone come from the same source. The most important piece of information that the outlet claims to know is that the phone will feature the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor that powers the S22 series. The chip was mired in energy efficiency and sustainable performance issues, so this may be an irritant for those hoping the S23 FE will be a solid flagship alternative to the S23 series.
Elsewhere, the aforementioned post also claims that the Galaxy S23 FE will feature a triple camera setup and a 120Hz OLED display.
It seems that we should expect a flagship processor from 2022 in the Galaxy S23 FE.

It should also be noted that the Galaxy S20 FE and S21 FE both started at $700. So it would be a very unexpected move if the Galaxy S23 FE comes under this price point.

Chip not older than Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1
There were multiple issues with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip ranging from power consumption to overheating issues. Samsung should avoid the slide and opt for the latest SoC. We don’t mind the slightly older Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 at all. It’s much more efficient than Gen 1 thanks to TSMC’s superior machining node against chips like the 8 Gen 1 produced by Samsung foundries.
camera upgrades
The Galaxy S23 FE camera update is long overdue. The S21 FE’s photography skills fail to impress as it features the same basic capabilities as the S20 FE. We certainly hope Samsung moves on from the 12MP main + ultrawide shooters and 8MP telephoto sensor it introduced on the previous Fan Edition phone. It would be nice if the company matched the camera setup of the standard Galaxy S23 model or at least kept the larger pixel size and improved AI photography skills of devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
More RAM
The Galaxy S21 FE offered 6GB of RAM on the base model. Hopefully, Samsung will bump that up to at least 8GB so that multitasking and opening heavy apps won’t be an issue on the Galaxy S23 FE.
